The take
Agentic AI deserves a place in the enterprise risk assessment, but calling it the number-one threat requires a defined ranking and evidence. The relevant question is what authority an agent has in this organization and what can happen if that authority is misused.
Assess the operating exposure
- Identify sensitive data and systems the agent can reach.
- Test prompt injection, excessive permissions and unsafe tool actions.
- Define where human approval is required.
- Measure the result and the residual risk before increasing autonomy.
My recommendation is to connect technology, business and security decisions in the same review. That makes the investment case easier to assess and avoids leaving risk ownership to a separate discussion after deployment.
